i was reading the papers this morning after such a long time ever since i touched the papers.. it was shocking that the world is changing too fast for my comfort..

the cover page of the straits times was an article of singaporean men who owned a factory in malaysia were kidnapped.. i believe this happened in malaysia.. i didnt read on hence i dont know much and will not talk much about it..

the cover page of the HOME section was about singaporeans who were on business trips being attacked by 2 men with 30cm long parangs.. to my suprise the money involved was not large but they were slashed on the back and hands and sufferedsome wounds on head too.. luckily they were not slashed by the sharp point of the parang or their condition would have definitely been worse..

i personally have been through times of shock when i was in malaysia.. 2002 chinese new year.. i went to genting and was about to come home and was at the KL train station.. my dad presented to the man our tickets but the man rejected us.. we asked why.. the man gave us a reply that freaked us out.. he said that singapore and malaysia were having a war the past days and we cant go back.. i swear that was what he said! my dad wanted to ask more but the guy ask us to go away.. if it was a comment from a passerby we wouldnt have cared but it came from the train station ticket collector and he refused to let us in.. it was only after some time that we know that it was because of an accident that happened between singapore and malaysia on the train track.. the train went off track due to the heavy rain.. therefore, they suspended all rides between singapore and malaysia..

friends, if your parents dont allow you to go overseas without them accompanying you, dont be angry or sad.. they have a heart for you.. if you met up with such a situation like me, stuck in a foreign country without a cell phone, without anyone you know there, will you be calm and able to think of a good solution? or will you freak out and be lost? i am starting to feel the security in my homeland.. most of the bad stuff are being filtered out in singapore compared to other countries.. if you think that singapore roads are screwed and the traffic laws are screwed too, try thailand.. i have been there and seen 3 people on a bike, all without helmets.. and they have roads but not lanes.. go to the more run down cities and you will see all the vehicles driving in all directions.. i have a friend in cambodia riding a bike and she has to pray real hard everytime before she gets her bike on the road.. treasure what you have friends, your care that your family has for you that you define as luo-suo-ness or k-po-ness..
